Toroa’s last morning on the Devonport run, then the final voyage of her working life to the double-ender Death Row in St Marys Bay. Captain Steve Buttling, Engineer Tommy Fergusson and Mate Damon Heath; the stoker was Tom’s son. The Captain remarked, “Goodbye old dear, I am grateful I was your skipper“. Toroa’s marine certificate of survey—her ‘warrant of fitness’—expired this day.
